Credit Card Offers For Bad Credit
Joseph asks…
Which credit card is best for building up a bad credit score?
I have A LOW credit score. I am in the process of paying off debts to try to repair my credit. There are numerous credit card offers that claim guaranteed approval for a fee. Iwould like to use any tactic available to help buildmy credit. I am however affraid to fall victim to the “SCAM”. Does any one have a possitive experince or advice on the options or other techniques for rebuilding credit.

admin answers:
There are a couple of options… You can try a gas company card. They tend to be great at approving lower credit score applicants and helping them re build credit. Another is getting a secured card through your bank. A secured card is where you put down the money for the balance that you want , i.e. $300-1500 and the bank holds those funds and then issues you a credit card. You still make payments on the card if you use it just like a regular credit card. After a period of time making all of your payments on time (usually 6months – 1 1/2 year) the card will be upgraded to a normal credit card and your initial funds will be reissued to you. If you close the card or default on your payments prior to the card upgrade the card will be closed and the funds re issued to you. Another card that will approve a lower credit score is Orchard. Their website is orchardbank.com. Good Luck
Nancy asks…
How come NO ONE will give me a loan or credit card when my credit rating is 652? Is it THAT bad?
This is all so confusing…. I get declined wherever I apply for this stuff and nobody can help me and now I have all these inquiries on my report and…. UGH. Shoot me. =/
Why is it everyone else I know gets ALL kinds of credit card offers and I can’t get ONE DECENT ONE!?

admin answers:
Too many inquires can make all the companies start to deny you credit. You best bet would be to wait about six months then apply again. You could also apply for a credit card with a company like first premier or orchard, you can find those card and compare them at http://creditcardwarehouseonline.com They do have some fees attached but their acceptance rate is around 85%. Then that will show at least you got accepted and might not scare the other companies off so much. Get one of those cards then apply for another in six months.
Daniel asks…
Anyone have Info on bad credit card offers? Good or Bad?
My credit is not too great and i need a credit card (unsecured) for traveling. Does anyone know if what is online is legitamite?

admin answers:
You have to read the fine print on all credit card offers.
1st make sure it is a fixed interest rate.
2nd make sure that fixed interest rate isn’t just for a promotional period.
3rd check what that interest rate is. There are some that are just a flat rate and others that are more like variable rates because they are a fixed % on top of a variable index. It can be confusing.
Try to find the lowest rate available to you. As your credit gets better look for better offers and try to get that balance on the higher rate card paid off.
I wouldn’t apply for a credit card online unless it was from a company name I am familiar with, like Chase, Bank of America, Capital One, etc. You want to be as careful as possible because you have to provide your social security number and date of birth. All very sensitive information. Good luck!
Mary asks…
Is openning and closing credit card accounts good or bad for credit history?
After few months or years I am attracted to other credit card offers, meanwhile i don’t want to have many open unused credit cards. Somewhere I heard having many open accounts hurt the credit score etc.

admin answers:
Yes opening too many can hurt your credit due to the fact that the creditors all have to pull your credit history which brings your beacon score down every time. Also most creditors look at it as though you could feesibly go out and max out every charge card you currently have opened on any given day.
Paul asks…
Why do Credit Card companies offer credit cards to people with bad credit histories??
Are they that despret for buisness?? A buddy of mine is in over $7,234 worth of debt, unpaid student loans, and recently had to file for bankrupcy. Yet these credit companies wont give up, or go away. They’re determined to keep offering him credit, do they see something special in him? I guess they’ll have to find out the hard way..

admin answers:
Because they make more money off of them. Because they are a higher risk customer, they can charge higher interest rate. The person will pay on their cc for a while, the cc will make a nice tidy profit. Eventually the person will default on their card, but often the company has already made enough off of them that they still turned a profit.

Visa Buxx
Lizzie asks…
Visa Buxx?
Hello.
im a 14 year old who’s parents want to get a debit like card for me and i discoverd visa buxx.
Im wondering if you can keep putting money on the card so it all adds up or does it restart?
O and is visa buxx a good choice or is there somthing better?

admin answers:
Visa Buxx has a limit of $2500 that you can add to the card. My kids use this and they love it. It helps them (and me) keep track of their money. They actually ask me less and less for money, because they’re not losing it, or I’m not finding it in the laundry! LOL
Daniel asks…
Can I get Visa Buxx Card for elderly parents who do not have a credit card?
My parents are retired and I want them to carry credit cards for emergencies. I know that there are other re-loadable, prepaid cards out there, but Buxx Cards seem to give more online control to monitor usage and add credit. What are the age limitations? I searched Visa and offering banks’ websites, but could not find this information.
Also, will this affect my credit score?

admin answers:
Yes I think you can give visa buxx to anyone (they are really made
for teenagers but I dont see why wont work for elderly people too
also since its a prepaid -re loadable card it wont effect your credit score
since you will be pay cash to load it
in fact here an artilce which talks about visa buxx for eldery

What about the Visa reloadable can i use it on paypal and get money directly deposited to my account?
Never mind about the reloadable you have to be 18 before you can use it anyway I’m only 15.

admin answers:
I thought VISA BUXX was long dead and gone.

What is a good amount to give on a Visa Buxx Card as a Christmas gift for each of my sons who are 15 and 13?
This will be their only Christmas gift from me. I chose Visa Buxx because they will not be charged to use it and I can track their spending and we can discuss their choices.

admin answers:
200 each
Helen asks…
Can you deposit money into a visa buxx card via ATM?
Hi, i have a navy federal credit union visa buxx card and i was wondering if you can deposit cash to it via ATM. If not what are other ways of depositing? Thanks.

admin answers:
Call the number on the back of the card & ask them how you could do it. That’s what they are there for.
Lisa asks…
What are the fees when using Visa Buxx?
Are there any hidden fees with the Visa Buxx card? Does it cost per transaction, is there a montly fee? Does anyone have any experience with this card?

admin answers:
$2.50 each transfer of funds..It is a great card for kids to have you can transfer money on a moments notice so in case of an emergency it is great!!!!! Both of my kids have one.
Susan asks…
Does anyone have a Visa Buxx card or a prepaid credit card type thing?
If I got a visa buxx, which is a prepaid credit card for teens, could I use it to order stuff off the internet?
My mom only gives me cash and she doesn’t like me to use her credit card, so when I see something that I love on the internet, I can’t really get it. So thats why I’m hoping I can get a Visa Buxx card.
Can’t you use them as a regular credit card and order stuff off the internet with it?

admin answers:
They are great of online purchases. If anyone gets the number, so what. You only put 20 bucks on it to make a purchase then its worthless.
Ready to buy again, slap on 60 bucks for those 49 dollar games and done.
Great security feature

Credit One
Daniel asks…
What is one way to establish your credit and one way to protect your credit? What are some things you can do t?
What is one way to establish your credit and one way to protect your credit? What are some things you can do to improve poor credit?

admin answers:
It is usually easier to get get credit from a store/gas station. (dont apply for too many credit cards)
The best way to build credit is pay your balance in full every month and never miss a payment.
Go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp and get a free credit report every year. It will not give you a score but it will give you an idea of what someone pulling your credit would see. Its also a good way to see if you have an open credit card and forgot about it, or someone stole your identity and opened a card in your name.
Pay off current balances on whatever credit cards are still open. Do not carry a balance into the month.
Utilization > If there is a 1000 credit limit and you are using 900 dollars of your credit ‘allowance’ that looks bad. Using under 30% of available credit is good.
Applying for too many credit cards can hurt your credit score. If you apply to one or two in a month wait at least 3-4 months before applying to other cards.
If you have a credit card, use it. If you dont use a credit card at all and make no payments it does not help at all.
Its also important to have some emergency savings for 3-6months of bills in-case bad stuff happens (you get fired, car blows up, you fall down some stairs, ETC) Rainy days do happen, expect them.
I have also read that having a savings and checking account can make it easier to get accepted for a credit card.
Lizzie asks…
How can I get my credit build up if no one will give me a credit card to begin with?
How can I get my credit build up if no one will give me a credit card to begin with? I have never had a credit card, I bought a home and I have been paying mortgage on time. Will that help my credit? I do have doctor bills on my credit report, any ideas as to how I can get rid of them without costing me a arm and leg.

admin answers:
Like the other users said, you could get a secured credit card; however, you really want to stay away from credit cards period! They are bad news; if you ever have hard times, they will pursue you relentlessly and even sue you if you can’t pay. Like someone else said, get a debit card with a VISA/Mastercard logo. There’s no need to even have a credit card if you do this. I will never have another credit card after all I’ve been through with the different companies. By the way, Capital One is the worst. They’ll give you a card easily enough, but if you ever get behind, they will not work with you and won’t settle out for a lesser amount to close the account. They also like to sue. This is how they pay for their expensive TV commercials. This is just my experience with them. Keep your life less complicated and just stay away from credit cards altogether.
Helen asks…
What credit score must you meet to get a capital one business credit card?
When applying for a Capital One Credit card you can see what credit you should have to get approved, but the business card does not have that. Does anyone know? Or do they go by your business revenue?

admin answers:
UNLESS you have been in business several years and have an established business credit record the credit is gained through your own personal credit reports.
Paul asks…
How does a credit card work and why do I have to get one?
I just turned 18 and I am trying to get my own place but they said I need to have good credit. To have good credit, they said I have to build good credit, but the only way to build good credit is to have good credit. Why is that? I was looking at credit cards and purchases become way more expensive when you buy them a credit card. So why use one? But to build credit you need to use one. Am I mistaken? Could someone explain how a credit card works please?

admin answers:
To get a good credit rating you must have obtained and used credit. There are several ways to do this but getting a secured credit card and never charging more than 1/3 of your limit and paying at least double the minimum payment every month is merely the easiest way to build credit.
Right now, to rent an apartment, you need a co-signer with good credit.
Generally it takes 2 years from when you first get a secured card and being good with it, to be considered to have any sort of credit rating.
A secured card is where you take say $500 and put it in a savings account in a bank and they freeze that amount for two years and then issue you a credit card for that amount. After the two years, if you have been responsible with the card, the account is unfrozen and you get the money back. If you have been irresponsible, they use the money in the account to pay off the card.
When I first moved to LA from Canada, I had no credit in the eyes of US banks and I had Wells Fargo freeze $1500 for 2 years to re-establish my credit in the US.
Joseph asks…
How long until I get good credit with my Capital One credit card?
I have zero credit. I have been trying to gain good credit but no one will give me a loan, Target and Walmart refused me their credit cards because I have no credit. So I got an offer from Capital One for their credit card, and they approved me! I was so excited but now I am hearing the horror stories about them. If I keep my card for a year, charge as little as possible and pay slightly over the minimum would I have enough good credit that I could cancel the card and get myself a better one?

admin answers:
That is a good plan to build credit. I do recommend (if you are going to use a credit card) paying the balance in full each month, and not carry a balance. When you carry a balance from month to month you are charged interest on the balance. I recommend never charging any more than you can pay off in full when the statement is available.
Jenny asks…
How often can one open credit cards without affecting your credit score?
I have been using rewards cards and paying off the balance for years. I have read that applying for new credit card wont affect your record if you only get one, and don’t open too many in a short period of time. Not sure what “short period of time” is . There are 3 rewards cards I have been meaning to get because of bonus/rewards, but not sure how I should space them out.

admin answers:
Generally, each time you open an account there is a small temporary drop in your score (think the 15 to 20 point range). If you have revolving debt it is possible that your score can even increase due to a drop in overall utilization ($2000 debt with $4000 total available will reflect much more poorly than $2000 debt with $7500 available). As your accounts age this temporary hit will vanish.
If you plan to apply for a mortgage, avoid opening new cards at least six months prior to that date. Avoid applying for new credit before looking into a car loan.
Existing creditors sometimes become nervous when you open numerous new accounts. If you open three new accounts at once this can lead to potential trouble, especially if you aren’t familiar with your current creditors (they all respond differently). Provided you aren’t already dealing with a number of creditors I would suggest picking out two of your favorites, applying for them, and then going back to snatch the third about three months later. Only apply for a card you expect to use and be careful about annual fees (unless they are plenty well justified as might be the case with, say, an AmEx charge card).
The more extensive your credit profile, the more cautious you should be about opening multiple new accounts in quick succession.
Nancy asks…
How to consolidate my credit cards into one?
I have four credit cards and I want to put the amount owed all onto one credit card with a lower intrest. I also don’t have very good credit. Any help would be useful. Thanks.
The amount owed is not more than 1,500 between the four. I always pay double of what the minimum payment is.

admin answers:
First you would need to find a credit card with low interest. From there you would need a credit limit to cover the 4 debts. From there you just tranfer balances once you open the card. Problem solved.
William asks…
How does one really build a credit history in the US if you have had none?
If one obtained a secured credit card from a bank, is it true that you should not spend more than 50% of your limit? Also, that you should not pay your balance in full but only the minimum amount to “start building your credit score?”

admin answers:
Actually it is more like 30% not 50%, and you can spend more you just need to keep it below that after you make a payment. I.e you have a limit of 1000, but you charge 800$ on it. You then need to make a payment 500$ to keep it below the 30%. They will report you balance every month to the credit bureaus after your payment is due. I have heard you should keep about a 10% balance on your cards for the best results in building your credit. You want to provide a solid payment history so use it for small purchases then make the payments, I dont think making minimum payments would be good. As for credit cards to get… You can go to your bank and get a secured card (you will have to put 300$-1000 down to get one, 300 is minimum, or you can get a orchard or first premier card. These cards have some fees attached to them but you do not have to put any money down to get them.

How many Credit Cards should I have open at one time?
Right now I have 10 Credit accounts open. Ranges from $424.00 to $5200.00 with a credit score of 728.
I have $0 balance all of my cards at this time.
I just applied to get a motorcycle and they denied me saying that I have too much revolved credit open.
I rent a apt due to the high housing prices. I have yet been able to afford a house due to those circumstances.
I have a couple questions that I hope can be answered.
1. How many Cards should I have open at one time?
2. I have heard having allot of closed accounts on your credit report looks bad. T or F (Explanation Please)
3. I have heard that you should always keep a small balance on all your cards. T or F (Explanation Please)
4. Should I try and get an outside loan from a banker or lender to get a lower APR than what they are offering at the dealership?
5. Any other useful tips to help keep my credit score on the rise without accruing allot of debt?
Thanks Allot.

admin answers:
1. I have 5 or 6 credit cards, each has at least 5,000 limit. I use 3 of them regularly and pay the entire balance each month. The others I use very rarely. My credit score is around 810 and I have never been questioned about my revolved credit (I do own a home, I don’t know if that makes a difference).
2. Close some of the accounts if you want, they’ll eventually roll off. Just don’t keep opening new ones and closing old ones (that gets harder these days with ID theft and all).
3. I personally use several of my cards regularly and others I have not used in months (maybe years). I do know that a low balance-to-limit ratio is good and if you close accounts that, in affect, raises your ratio since your limit went down even though your balance did not go up. Run your balance-to-limit ratio here…
Http://creditcard.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Balance-To-Limit-Ratio
4. It’s always a good idea to check around for the lowest APR you can get.
5. 35% of your FICO score is based on paying all your bills on time. 30% is from Balance-to-Limit ratio. 15% is from the length of your credit history. 10% is from new accounts and recent “new” credit applications. And 10% is based on the mix of credit card and other loans.
Sounds you best chances for a higher FICO are improving the mix of credit card, retail cards and other loans plus getting some “new” credit like a retail card, but don’t get too much new credit all at once. Maybe you could request higher limits on some of your cards and get rid of some of the lower limit ones. That would keep your balance-to-limit ratio low while reducing the number of open accounts.
It’s all just a bit confusing. Good luck to you.

Credit Cards For No Credit
James asks…
You are considering applying for one of two credit cards. Credit card “A” has an annual fee of $?
You are considering applying for one of two credit cards. Credit card “A” has an annual fee of $30 and charges interest of 10 percent. Credit card “B” has no annual fee, but charges an interest rate of 15 percent. If you carry an average balance of $500 on your credit card, the lowest total annual expenses you could have with Credit Card “A” would be:

admin answers:
Cards with no annual fee are usually better because after you balance is paid off then you don’t have to keep paying them money. You don’t want to have to cancel a card for the sake of your credit score, so the no fee card is better. Maybe you can find a card that offers 0% interest for 6 months or a year. The fee takes away all of the benefit of the lower interest rate and may end up costing you a little more.
Carol asks…
Is there any credit cards you can get with no credit?
My Credit is really bad from long ago. I am trying to pay it off an reestablish credit. Any credit cards i could apply for? Thanks!

admin answers:
Bad credit is still better than no credit. There are many special offers for people with bad credit history. Of course, credit cards for bad credit history have fewer benefits and more limitations than credit cards for good credit. Go to http://www.rebuild-credit-cards.com/ They offer many options for bad credit or no credit.
You can apply for a secured credit card. It requires a deposit with the issuing bank. This amount, to secure a credit card, is usually only in the hundreds of dollars. It is held as collateral while the bank issues credit of some percentage of the deposited amount often 100%. In many cases, the card is reported to the credit bureaus as a normal (i.e. Unsecured ) card. This allows the cardholder to establish a positive credit history over the duration. Based on good payment history over an extended duration, some banks will then issue the customer an unsecured VISA or MasterCard.
You can find several guaranteed approval (pre-approved) credit cards for bad credit. However, your application for this kind of cards is also analyzed by banks and in some situation the approval might be denied. Consider all the requirements carefully because rejections hurt your credit score.
And, of course, start working on rebuilding your credit history. There are several approaches you can find at http://www.credit-land.com/articles/articles_page_68600_1881780_12.php
Good luck!

The idea of democracy is smoke in the eyes, an illusion to blind the sheep. And these are no Christian sheep, mind you.
Those ruling have no compunction in regard to suppressing freedom of speech and for the press to tell people what really is going on. Nowadays, it is all theater that is like Hollywood – a good show, but a show nonetheless.
Nothing real about what people are taught to believe.

admin answers:
We all know there is something very wrong with the world, when someone stands up and says what everyone else is too scared to say from fear, that’s what it is fear, the dictators of the world come out to kill that person or destroy their lives if they are in the public eye, they will make up anything to destroy that person, this is not a surprise.
What is more of a disappointment is the public, lots of them being brainwashed into thinking the government is right no matter what they do, even if that means leading millions of people into gas chambers, killing 4 million vietnamese or invading countries on a whim whilst lieing about the reasons for going to war to make themselves seem righteous to the world.
Then there is the other section of society that are even more troubling, they know right from wrong, they are not brainwashed, they coldly look at a man standing up for what is right, do they jump to his defence? No, they stay quiet because they don’t want to go down with this man, they are cowards, these are the people who go along with anything for their own gain, the mercenaries of this world.
The reason things never seem to change is because those of us who are brave and stand up for what is right in society are few in number the majority are either brainwashed or complicit in evil for their own material gain.
As Louis Armstrong once sang, “what a wonderful world” and i can’t help but see the irony in it.

Actually no limits except that you must be a full-time student and be over 18 years old.
As for the credit score, students credit cards may be given to those who have no credit at all.
Try your luck to find the best for your needs.
Laura asks…
What is the best credit card for college students?
Can anyone tell me what the best college student credit card is? What’s usually the credit card limit for students? I’m planning to get it just in case I need it when I go to South Korea this summer.

admin answers:
HSBC has a student credit card. Usually the limit is around $500. They take into account that you might not have much of an established credit history. 1-800-975-4722 That’s their number. They are pretty good cards too. Mastercard. Accepted anywhere mastercard is accepted, worldwide too.
Paul asks…
Whats the normal APR rate for College students getting credit cards?
The guy trying to get me to get a k-state credit card said it was 17.1 which is normal is it?

admin answers:
Thats terrible! I had a credit card as soon as I turned 18, and I haven’t missed one payment. I now have 3 credit cards and I am a Sophomore in college.
My American Express for students APR is 14%
My (MasterCard) Citi Platinum Dividend for students is 13%
and my (Visa) Chase BP Gas card is 11%
Credit is a VERY important thing to have, get one for each major branch (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX) and if you are responsible, your credit score will skyrocket and you will be in good shape by graduation, and you will get good rates on loans and other things.

This strikes me odd – since it simply is not their style. Credit suisse is offering private banking and if you had money there i am reasonable certain you would know.
Otherwise it would be a swiss attorney making contact with you regarding a probate matter and not the bank.
It sounds like a scam, maybe you wish to contact credit suisse about this.

I have some funds in Switzerland since 20 years. I now want to transfer the funds to another country and bank. Credit Suisse is using all kinds of delay tactics to make it difficult for me. CS has alredy received the remittance instructions signed by the account signatory. It is quite a big amount we are talking about here and I want the funds tranfered as soon as possible. Credit Card Offers Opt Out
David asks…
How to opt-out of credit card offers, as a BUSINESS?
Hi,
I have a small home business and I keep getting annoying business credit card offers. I already opt-out as an individual… but now I receive offers under my business name.
Thanks!

admin answers:
To be honest just use the junk mail as fuel for your wood burning stove. I have a friend that heats his house using junk mail.
Daniel asks…
Why do we have to opt-out of credit card offers (instead of opting-in)?
If we don’t want to receive truckloads of pre-approved and unsolicited credit card offers why do we have to “OPT-OUT” of the credit bureaus, instead of the other way around. That is we would have to specifically “OPT-IN” to receive this kind of junk mail or telemarketing.
After all these pre-approved credit card offers endanger a person and makes it easy for his/her identity (and money) to be stolen.

admin answers:
Because the CRA’s, and other businesses, make money by selling your information.
There is no law stating that a business must treat a person as being opted out until that person decides to opt in. Naturally since the law isn’t set up that way, the businesses are going to do whatever they can to put the green in their pockets.
If you want to be truly opted out, you shouldn’t stop at opting out on the governments optoutprescreen site, since that only covers the CRA’s.
Also, putting yourself on the do not call list will not stop other companies from selling your info.
You will have to opt out with each and every company you do business with – credit card companies, banks, cell phone companies, internet providers, etc., etc., etc………..etc.
Not all companies sell peoples information, but many do since it is a lucrative business. Even my local electric company sells info and provides the opportunity to opt out.
Mandy asks…
Should I opt out of credit card offers?
I am in college with a cruel joke of an income, aside from student loans, I have no debt.
Of course, I am also getting a million “pre-screened” credit card offers in the mail.
I read at the bottom of one of these letters that I can call a number to opt out or getting these credit card offers.
Is it wise to opt out of getting them, or will I miss some sort of great deal?
I am not asking if cards are “bad”, we know they are.
Do I want to stop getting the OFFERS in the mail?
Or should I just keep getting my mailbox jammed full of them?

admin answers:
The opt out option only works for 5-years.
This will remove your name from the national mailing list for 5-years and then it will go back on. By that time you will be out of school.
You might want to go ahead and get 1 or 2 credit cards first and then opt out. Just use them for everyday things never exceed 30% of your credit limit in any given month and pay in full before the due date.
If you do this, when you get out of school and want to finance something you will have a killer credit score.
Linda asks…
Why do you still receive credit card offers if you opt-out of direct mailings?
This is paper mailings, NOT phone or email contacts. And no, I’m not in debt – I have a perfect credit history.

admin answers:
Simple. The credit reporting agencies sell leads to credit card companies. Register with the national do not call list and report anyone that further contacts you. I’m not sure how to get them to stop sending junk mail or emails but try contacting the credit bureaus and see if they will opt you out of their leads. See link below to register.
P.s. If you are looking for ways to get out of credit card debt check out
the company I work with, link also below. Hope it helps.
Joseph asks…
Can you opt out of credit card offers?
I get junk mail for credit cards every week that I’m never going to apply for.

admin answers:
Yes, many unsolicited offers that you get in the mail have an opt out number on the small piece of paper listing their disclosures. I think you can also notify the credit bureaus (Experian, Transunion and Equifax) that you opt out, which will not allow credit card companies to view the basic criteria needed to extend an offer to APPLY for credit.
James asks…
What is the number to opt out of credit card offers?

admin answers:
Beware: There are many websites and numbers that are actually phishing for your personal information. If not outright criminal, they will simply sell the information you provide or charge a fee for something you can do for free. Use only the contacts listed below provided by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
Susan asks…
If I “opt out” of credit card offers, will this interfere with approval for a home loan?
I get A LOT of credit card offers in the mail that I have no interest in. I’m not going to be getting a new credit card account any time soon. I want to stop these offers permanently and have found that I can do so on this website:
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t
I’m thinking about buying my first home (I currently rent). If I submit an opt out form, is this going to effect the process of buying a home? Will the bank be able to view my credit report without any problems when I apply for a home loan?
I’m living in the US.

admin answers:
Absolutely no affect on any credit approval. Opting out will just get rid of all those solicitations for new credit cards — or at least most of them.
Jenny asks…
Is it a good idea to ‘opt out’ of recieving credit card offers? I’ve heard it somehow affects your credit.

admin answers:
No, opting out of credit card offers does not affect your credit. There’s no way it can.
If you’re concerned about identity theft you can opt out. You’re also saving trees. Plus, they’re annoying to get in the mail. Really, it’s up to you though.
Sandra asks…
opt-out preapproved credit card offers?
i get a few of these in the mail a week, and they are rather annoying…i was wondering if it is safer to just keep getting them and shredding them or just opting out (safety concern because you have to enter your name, dob, ssn etc)…also, if i do opt out is it safer to do by phone or internet? what are the chances of identity theft by opting out because you have to enter all that information? i heard that if you opt out you will actually get more offers, is that true?
also, my wife gets them too, but in her maiden name…if she were to opt out, would she have to put her name on the form as her maiden or married name?

admin answers:
Opt out of them if they bug you. You can always call and get the current offers over the phone or through their website. As long as you maintain your credit there isn’t a problem.
Something doesn’t sound right about your wife getting offers in her maiden name. She should call the bank and get that fixed so her credit report is correct. Opt out is a second decision.
